PWP Industries Continues to Grow and Expand
VERNON, Ca. -- March 19, 2008 -- PWP Industries will soon have a new Headquarters. The $15 million dollar expansion project, to be completed by the end of the 2nd quarter, will include new Corporate offices, a new and expanded state-of-the-art Innovation, Research and Development Center dedicated to creating groundbreaking concepts in packaging and additional space to support the existing Vernon manufacturing plant.
Ira Maroofian, President and Chief Operating Officer, explains, “The California expansion project represents our objective to continually focus on creating award winning innovative packaging. By dedicating more space and personnel to research and development we will be able to stay at the forefront of bringing customers the widest variety of packaging solutions possible.”
Also currently under construction is a 125,000 square foot expansion to PWP’s Abilene Texas facility. The $22 million dollar project will provide additional space for both manufacturing and warehousing in an eco-friendly facility that, among other things, takes advantage of the sun for lighting and uses heat generated by the production process as a heat source for the building.
Maroofian says, “The new Texas addition will significantly increase our production capacity. Our emphasis on the environmental impact of the building is central to our corporate-wide initiative to promote environmental sustainability. Our Texas plant, built in 2006, paved the way for our efforts by reducing shipping distances to our customers. To date, it has saved, on average, 1,000 miles per shipment, which reduces green house gasses and our carbon footprint."
The California and Texas expansions will both allow for additional PETE and Polypropylene capabilities. These latest projects follow last year’s expansion of PWP’s West Virginia manufacturing facility which allowed for greater Polypropylene manufacturing capacity, enabling PWP to provide more solutions for our customers’ retail and processor packaging needs.
